Job summary

SEDR Recruitment Ltd is seeking an Estimator for remediation and enabling works, based in the Midlands or Leeds. You will develop accurate tenders, take-offs and cost plans, supporting bids from enquiry to handover while working with the pre-contract team and engineers.

The role requires estimating experience in remediation/earthworks, reading drawings, NEС/JCT familiarity, and strong numerical and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Estimating experience in remediation, enabling works, earthworks or construction.
• Ability to read technical drawings, complete take-offs and prepare cost plans.
• Familiarity with NEC/JCT contracts and tendering portals.
• Good knowledge of construction methods, materials and equipment.
• Strong numerical skills, attention to detail, communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Knowledge of contaminated land and remediation methods is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates using drawings, specifications and site information.
• Complete take-offs and cost plans covering labour, plant, materials, subcontractors and waste disposal.
• Obtain and assess quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Support bid submissions, ensuring they meet client requirements.
• Attend site visits to assess conditions, identify risks and establish project requirements.
• Raise tender queries and explain pricing assumptions, exclusions and revisions.
• Review estimates prepared by others before submission.
• Attend operational meetings and hand over awarded projects to support budget control and profitability.
• Consider environmental and safety requirements and identify opportunities to improve estimating accuracy and efficiency.
