Role: Youth Support Minister
Place of Work: Gates of Praise International Christian Centre
Line Manager: Lead Pastor of Gates of Praise Church
Support Structure: You will be a committed member of the church team and staff team, with weekly staff meetings and bi‑monthly leadership team meetings. You will have regular meetings with the Lead Pastor to discuss and review current work issues. 6 monthly appraisals will be held to discuss professional development, training, etc., and will include target setting.
Hours: 20 hours per week. Due to the nature of this role, evening and weekend working will be essential.
Outline Job Description
- Work with the lead pastor, other leaders, and volunteers to grow the youth ministry and outreach within the community.
- Encourage young people to come to develop faith in God and responsibility in caring for one another.
- Inspire our young people in their faith and help them to fulfil their God‑given potential.
- Develop and grow our youth ministry, enabling young people to be fully engaged in the life of the church.
- Be an advocate for young people within the wider church family.
- Be a committed member of the church team and the staff team.
Key Tasks
- Promote the vision of Gates of Praise International Centre amongst the youth population and within the community.
- Encourage the young people, volunteer team, church leadership and wider church to be committed to the vision of the Church in developing our vision and including for the youth.
- Disciple young people in worship, Bible teaching and ministry in the power of the Holy Spirit.
- Mentor young people to help them realise their potential, giftings and skills.
- Organise training that will help develop young people’s skills and use the skills within the church community.
- Nurture, develop and equip a volunteer team to partner with you in youth ministry.

- Have a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Be passionate about sharing your faith with young people.
- Be a highly relational individual with excellent social and interpersonal skills.
- Be able to inspire and motivate others to be part of the volunteer team.
- Have good communication skills.
- Be able to use initiative and motivate yourself.
- Be able to work within and coordinate a team.
- Have good organisational skills.
- Have relevant experience of youth work and/or ministry in a Christian setting.
- Be able to exercise discretion and sensitivity when dealing with confidential matters, but to know when to share safeguarding concerns.
- Be committed to anti‑discriminatory approaches and inclusion.
- Work at all times with a high degree of integrity and model excellent working practices.
