Job summary

Pleckgate High School is seeking a Religious Education Teacher to join our team on a 0.2 FTE basis. The role focuses on planning and delivering RE and PSHE for KS3/KS4 within a supportive, diverse school community.

We value high-quality lessons, secure subject knowledge and ongoing professional development to improve teaching and pupil outcomes. The successful candidate will contribute to department success and school-wide attainment in RE and PSHE.

Qualifications

  • QTS required and able to teach RE across KS3/KS4.
  • Degree level in RE or conversion course completed.
  • Experience delivering RE with good outcomes across key stages.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver a well-structured RE and PSHE curriculum for KS3/KS4.
  • Demonstrate secure subject knowledge and understanding of RE developments.
  • Monitor pupil progress and adapt teaching to individual learning needs.
  • Assess using formative and summative methods to support knowledge retention.
  • Create engaging learning experiences to help pupils reach their potential in RE.
  • Contribute to raising attainment in RE and PSHE.
  • Support the department to be a high-profile part of the school.

Job description

The Job:

Pleckgate High School seek to appoint a Religious Education Teacher to work 1 day per week (0.2 FTE).

What does this job do?
  1. To successfully plan and teach a well-structured, RE and PSHE curriculum for pupils at KS3 and KS4.
  2. To demonstrate secure subject knowledge and a clear understanding of current developments in the teaching of RE.
  3. To monitor and effectively support the overall progress and development of pupils, adapting teaching strategies to meet individual learning needs.
  4. To effectively assess through excellent formative and summative strategies so that all pupils are successfully acquiring and retaining the most important knowledge and skills.
  5. To facilitate and encourage engaging learning experience which provides pupils with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential in RE.
  6. To contribute to raising standards of pupil attainment in RE and PSHE
  7. To make a positive contribution to the success of the department and ensure the RE/PSHE department is a high-profile department in school.
What are the job requirements?
  1. Qualified Teacher Status.
  2. Qualified to at least degree level in a RE based subject/or adequate post degree conversion course.
  3. Experience of teaching Religious Education throughout the Key Stages and securing good outcomes.
  4. Ability to deliver consistently high-quality lessons in Religious Education to pupils of all ages and abilities.
  5. Knowledge of the requirements of the RE Curriculum.
  6. Knowledge of current educational developments and initiatives relating to the subject and their implications.
  7. Well-developed planning and organisational skills including time management and the ability to prioritise effectively.
  8. A relentless approach to securing the improvement of teaching and learning.
