Job summary

Pleckgate High School is seeking a Lead Teacher of Mathematics to join on a full-time, permanent basis starting January 2027. The post includes a TLR 2B and a welcome bonus of £2,000. You will model excellence, drive standards, and lead department CPD within Education Partnership Trust.

You will lead school-wide numeracy development, analyse data to set targets, and coordinate interventions to secure good progress for all learners. An exciting leadership opportunity in a large, diverse community.

Qualifications

• QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree with evidence of ongoing professional development.
• Outstanding results for GCSE mathematics groups at foundation and higher level and preferably other mathematical qualifications.

The Job

Pleckgate High School seek to appoint a Lead Teacher of Mathematics on a full time and permanent contract to start in January 2027. The successful candidate will also receive a TLR 2B for Lead Teacher responsibilities and a welcome bonus of £2,000.

What does this job do?

• Consistently modelling high-quality teaching, providing models of excellence for other teachers in the department. To be able/willing to demonstrate excellent practice to others.
• To contribute to raising standards of pupil attainment and achievement in mathematics. To enable all staff to use well-judged and imaginative teaching strategies to provide support and intervention to meet the needs of individual learners in order that they make at least good progress relative to their starting point.
• To secure the promotion of high levels of enthusiasm for, participation in and commitment to, learning amongst all pupils by working with other teachers to develop their practice.
• Being a member of the Teaching and Learning team who will plan and deliver the whole school and mathematics- specific CPD, being part of the strategic direction of the quality of education across school.
• Lead the development and implementation of a whole school numeracy strategy working with Heads of Department to embed numeracy skills within their curriculum areas.
• Analyse data to identify trends, track progress and set targets for improvement in numeracy.
• Oversee the numeracy interventions programme coordinating with the learning support and pastoral teams to ensure pupils are making good progress.

What are the job requirements?

• Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree and be able to show evidence of ongoing professional development.
• Be able to show evidence of outstanding results for GCSE mathematics groups at foundation and higher level and preferably other mathematical qualifications (eg GCSE statistics, Level 2 further mathematics)
• Demonstrate outstanding teaching practice and excellent behaviour management.
• Knowledge of effective teaching and learning strategies and how children learn mathematics.
• Have a keen interest in subject specific pedagogy, reading and research which is evidenced in teaching practice.
