Job summary

Pleckgate High School in Blackburn is seeking a Teacher of Mathematics on a permanent contract from January 2027. Join a team of 10 Maths teachers; ECTs are welcome and a £2,000 welcome bonus is offered to successful applicants.

You will develop engaging lessons, design learning opportunities, and assess pupil progress to ensure all pupils succeed. The school values curriculum development and collaborative CPD within a supportive, ambitious environment.

Qualifications

  • Assist in developing syllabuses, resources, schemes of work and marking policies.
  • Contribute to the subject area's Development Plan and its implementation.
  • Attend meetings and plan/prepare courses and lessons.
  • Support the curriculum to align with the Academy’s objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Be a well-qualified mathematics specialist and deliver engaging lessons.

Job description

Pleckgate High School seek to appoint a Teacher of Mathematics on a permanent contract from January 2027. This is a fantastic opportunity to join an established team of 10 Mathematics Teachers. ECT's are welcome to apply and a welcome bonus of £2,000 will be given to the successful candidate.

What does this job do?
  • Be a well-qualified mathematics specialist
  • Have experience of designing engaging learning opportunities which promote mathematical understanding
  • Have an excellent understanding of how to assess pupils progress and make adaptations to the learning experience to allow all pupils to be successful
  • Be able to demonstrate to support offered to learners that struggle with aspects of mathematics
  • Be passionate about the teaching of mathematics and knowledgeable of mathematics pedagogy
  • To contribute to the continuous development of the curriculum that is responsive to the needs of pupils in our school
  • To contribute to departmental CPD in order that all pupils receive a consistent, high quality teaching experience in the department
What are the job requirements?
  • To assist in the development of appropriate syllabuses, resources, schemes of work, marking policies and teaching strategies in the subject area.
  • To contribute to the subject area’s Development Plan and its implementation.
  • To attend all appropriate meetings.
  • To plan and prepare courses and lessons.
  • To contribute to the whole Academy’s planning activities
  • To assist the Subject Leader to ensure that the curriculum area provides a range of teaching which complements the Academy’s Strategic Objectives.
  • To continue personal development in the relevant areas including subject knowledge and teaching methods
  • To communicate effectively with the parents of pupils as appropriate
