Job summary

LiveWest is seeking Relief Youth Development Workers to support young people aged 16-25 on Schemes in West Cornwall. You will help residents manage tenancy, understand benefits and build life skills like budgeting and wellbeing.

Roles include on-site lone or collaborative shifts at Davy House, Coach House, Redruth Foyer and Carn Brea Foyer. The post is relief-based, with flexible days and on-site duties, and will require safeguarding checks.

  • Understanding of adult vulnerabilities in a supported housing environment.

About The Role

We are looking for Relief Youth Development Workers to work in our Young People Schemes in West Cornwall:

  • Davy House, Penzance
  • Coach House, Penzance
  • Redruth Foyer, Redruth
  • Carn Brea Foyer, Redruth

You will be working as part of a larger Support team to provide support services to our Young people aged 16 - 25. The role includes supporting people to manage their tenancy, understanding benefits and encouraging positive life skills like budgeting, wellbeing and social inclusion.

You will be working shifts on an adhoc basis. You will support and monitor the conduct, health and safety and general welfare of residents with a flexible and sensitive approach.

This role is being offered on a relief contract basis, working flexibly to include days at the scheme as and when required. Sometimes there will be other colleagues on site but you may also be required to lone work at times on site.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable groups and expect all colleagues to share this commitment. Appointment to the post will be subject to a satisfactory enhanced check via the Disclosure and Barring Service.

About The Candidate

To be considered for the role ofRelief Support Worker, you will:

  • Ideally have experience of lone working.
  • Have the ability to assess and manage risk.
  • Be able to demonstrate the skills required to support individuals.
  • Be able to demonstrate an understanding of adult vulnerabilities in a supported housing environment.
  • Have the ability to adopt a methodical, organised approach to work.
