Job summary

Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking Relief School Crossing Patrol Wardens to support our service across the borough. This casual, flexible role involves supervising crossing points and assisting children to cross safely before and after school.

Training is provided, and you will join a supportive team with opportunities to serve the local community and develop your skills. Flexible hours and varied sites ensure no two days are the same.

Qualifications

• Flexibility to cover shifts at short notice.
• Strong sense of responsibility and safety focus.
• Good communication with pupils, parents and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Supervise pedestrian crossings at designated locations.
• Assist children to cross roads safely and efficiently.
• Report incidents or hazards and follow council procedures.

These are casual positions, variable hours, with work offered as and when required across multiple locations to meet service needs. Flexibility and reliability are essential. 44.8 weeks per year. What We’re Looking For

• Applicants must be flexible and able to work at short notice to provide cover for absent patrol officers.
• A strong sense of responsibility and commitment to safety
• Good communication and awareness of road safety
• Reliability and flexibility to work across various sites
• A friendly, approachable and community-minded attitude
• A full driving licence is preferred but not essential, as duties may be carried out at crossing points within your local area.
• Previous experience is not essential, as full training will be provided. We are looking for individuals who are responsible, approachable, and committed to ensuring the safety of children at busy road crossings.
