Job summary

Orkney Islands Council seeks a Relief Social Care Assistant for St Rognvald's House. Hours are offered on an as and when required basis, with a pay rate of £16.38 per hour including Distant Islands Allowance.

You will work under senior staff to provide continuous care to frail, elderly, and those with dementia, attending to general and personal care needs. The role requires SVQ2 in Health and Social Care (SCQF Level 6) or equivalent, and registration with the SSSC within 3 months.

Qualifications

• Hold SVQ2 (SCQF Level 6) in Health and Social Care or equivalent recognised by SSSC.
• Register with the SSSC as a Support Worker in a Care Home Service for Adults / Housing Support and Care at Home Service within 3 months.
• Be willing to work unsocial hours on a rota.
• Require Level 2 Disclosure with PVG scheme membership.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous care to the frail, elderly and those with dementia in a residential care establishment.
• Carry out tasks and duties delegated by senior staff while maintaining confidentiality and safety of service users.
• Assist with personal care in line with Care Inspectorate standards.
