Job summary

Advanté Ltd. is seeking anexperienced HGV Class 1 Driver to safely operate lorries with draw bar trailers and lorry loaders, delivering and collecting hire fleet units.

The role supports transport and delivery operations across multiple service centres and client sites, following lift plans and regulatory requirements. The role requires a full, clean HGV Class 1 licence, CSCS/ALLMI loader qualifications, and proven experience with cranes and site lifts.

Qualifications

• Qualified lorry loader operator (CSCS/ALLMI).
• Full, clean HGV Class 1 licence (C+E).
• Proven experience operating HGVs with trailers and lorry loaders.
• Strong understanding of crane operations and site lift procedures.
• Knowledge of Driver Hours Regulations, tachograph recording, and transport legislation.
• Ability to work independently, safely, and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Drive and operate HGV vehicles with draw bar trailers and lorry loaders to deliver and collect hire fleet units.
• Work in line with the company lift plans to determine safe and efficient onsite actions.
• Introduce hire fleet units to clients and check units thoroughly on collection.
• Move units safely within client sites as required.
• Operate vehicles efficiently while adhering to all road, traffic, and legal requirements, including Driver Hours Regulations.
• Carry out daily vehicle, crane, and trailer inspections, including safety checks, lubrication, and maintenance tasks.
• Follow all procedures for safe loading and offloading of units.
• Wear appropriate PPE and maintain a safe working environment at all times.

Job description

The HGV Class 1 Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of Advanté’s HGV vehicles, including lorries with draw bar trailers and lorry loaders. The role involves transporting, delivering, and collecting hire fleet units from client sites while following lift plans, site-specific instructions, and regulatory requirements.

The role is based within Advanté's Transport function and will require the postholder to work from, or support operations at, any of the Company's service centres and operational locations, either on a temporary or ongoing basis, to meet business needs.

The driver ensures vehicles and equipment are maintained, inspected, and operated safely, supporting the smooth delivery of the business’s operational objectives and compliance with all legal and company requirements.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Transport & Delivery Operations

• Drive and operate HGV vehicles with draw bar trailers and lorry loaders to deliver and collect hire fleet units.
• Work in line with the company lift plans to determine safe and efficient onsite actions.
• Introduce hire fleet units to clients and check units thoroughly on collection.
• Move units safely within client sites as required.
• Operate vehicles efficiently while adhering to all road, traffic, and legal requirements, including Driver Hours Regulations.

Vehicle, Crane & Equipment Operation

• Operate lorry loaders safely and efficiently; offer full range of crane operating skills.
• Carry out daily vehicle, crane, and trailer inspections, including safety checks, lubrication, and maintenance tasks.
• Follow all procedures for safe loading and offloading of units.
• Wear appropriate PPE and maintain a safe working environment at all times.

Record Keeping & Documentation

• Maintain accurate tachograph and complete delivery and collection paperwork.
• Record daily vehicle and loader inspections, plant/operator licenses, and damage reports.
• Complete all paperwork accurately for deliveries, collections, and inspections.
• Report any operational issues to the Transport Manager that may affect delivery or collection schedules.

Compliance & Safety

• Work in line with the company’s Health & Safety Policy and Integrated Management System, including Delivery/Collection RAMS.
• Adhere to site-specific health and safety requirements when operating cranes, banking operations, and vehicles on client sites.
• Maintain safe working practices in accordance with process risk assessments.

Other Duties

• Support service centre operations and other business requirements as assigned.
• Work from and provide operational support across any of the Company's service centres or operational locations as required to meet business needs.
• Attend training as required.
• Assist in general fleet and plant maintenance, including reporting defects and completing necessary documentation.

• Physically fit and capable of safely loading, unloading, and operating plant equipment.
