Job summary

Mencap is hiring Relief Female Support Workers for Buckfastleigh & Newton Abbot. You’ll support individuals with learning disabilities with daily activities, emotional support and a range of day-to-day tasks. A driver is required for this role.

Roles are offered with varied shifts including days, evenings, weekends and holidays; a 24-hour care setting with sleep-ins and enhanced DBS checks. We encourage diverse applicants and provide comprehensive training and development.

Qualifications

  • Experience in support roles for learning disabilities (desirable).
  • Strong communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Willingness to work varied shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care and daily living support.
  • Assist with medication and health-related tasks as required.
  • Support with finance, meals, hygiene, and SALT-based needs.
  • Facilitate activities, day trips, gym, holidays and recreational outings.

Calling all compassionate and dedicated individuals! Mencap is seeking passionate Relief Female Support Workers to join our incredible team in Buckfastleigh & Newton Abbot.

As a Support Worker, you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals with learning disabilities. You will be working with a diverse group of people, each with their own unique abilities and needs.

From assisting with daily activities to providing emotional support, you’ll play a vital role in their life.

Personal care, medication support, finance support, food and hygiene with SALT, challenging behaviour, all aspects of day to day support. Day trips, gym, holidays, horse riding.

What we're looking for:

· A genuine passion for supporting others.

· Excellent communication skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships.

· Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

· A positive and empathetic attitude towards individuals with learning disabilities.

This role requires you to be a driver.

Contract options:

All our services are 24hr care. We prepare the rotas at least 4 weeks in advance so you can still plan your personal and social life!

· Days: Between 07:00-22:00

There is also a sleep-ins which are a contractual requirement although not guaranteed, where you will receive an enhanced flat rate payment of £64.20

*All roles are subject to an enhanced DBS check and suitable references.

*Due to the nature of this service, we are looking for female only applicants. This post is exempt under the Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9, Part 1.
