Job summary

Mencap is seeking a Relief Female Support Worker to join our team in Buckfastleigh. You will support individuals with learning disabilities with daily activities, personal care, and emotional support, in a compassionate, person-centred way.

The role involves varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and requires a driver. Training and development opportunities are provided, with DBS checks and references required.

Qualifications

• Experience in support work with learning disabilities preferred.
• Ability to build meaningful relationships with individuals.
• Willingness to work varied shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be able to travel to Buckfastleigh and surrounding areas.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily activities and personal care.
• Provide emotional support and companionship.
• Support with medication adherence and finance management.
• Assist with nutrition, hygiene, and SALT-related needs.
• Help manage challenging behaviours and safe day-to-day support.
• Support day trips, gym sessions, holidays, and activities like horse riding.
