Job summary

Mencap in Buckfastleigh & Newton Abbot is seeking compassionate Female Support Workers to assist individuals with learning disabilities in a 24hr care setting. You will help with daily activities, personal care, and emotional support, working shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays.

A driver is required to enable community access and activities. Ideal candidates will demonstrate empathy, strong communication, flexibility, and a genuine passion for supporting others.

Qualifications

• Female-only applicant due to service (exemption under Equality Act)
• DBS check required and references

• Driver’s license or ability to drive preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide daily living support and personal care
• Offer emotional support and build meaningful relationships
• Assist with medication, finances, food, hygiene and SALT
• Assist with activities and outings (day trips, gym, holidays, horse riding)
• Follow rota commitments, including evenings, weekends and some sleep-ins
