Job summary

Mencap is seeking a Relief Female Support Worker to join our team in Buckfastleigh. You will support individuals with learning disabilities with daily activities, personal care, and emotional support, in a compassionate, person-centred way.

The role involves varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and requires a driver. Training and development opportunities are provided, with DBS checks and references required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Help manage challenging behaviours and safe day-to-day support.

Calling all compassionate and dedicated individuals! Mencap is seeking passionate Relief Female Support Workers to join our incredible team in Buckfastleigh & Newton Abbot.

As a Support Worker, you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals with learning disabilities. You will be working with a diverse group of people, each with their own unique abilities and need.

From assisting with daily activities to providing emotional support, you’ll play a vital role in their life.

Personal care, medication support, finance support, food and hygiene with SALT, challenging behaviour, all aspects of day to day support. Day trips, gym, holidays, horse riding.

What we're looking for:
  • A genuine passion for supporting others.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • A positive and empathetic attitude towards individuals with learning disabilities.
  • This role requires you to be a driver.
Contract options:
  • Relief
Shift times:

All our services are 24hr care. We prepare the rotas at least 4 weeks in advance so you can still plan your personal and social life!

  • Days: Between 07:00-22:00

There is also a sleep-ins which are a contractual requirement although not guaranteed, where you will receive an enhanced flat rate payment of £64.20

All roles are subject to an enhanced DBS check and suitable references.
