Job summary

Salford City Council is seeking a Relief Cleaner to maintain high cleanliness standards across our locations. You will be based at Pendleton Gateway and work in various schools and buildings within the base area.

The role runs 10 hours per week (Mon–Fri, 5pm–7pm) during term time. A DBS check is required, with cost borne by the applicant. Benefits include LGPS, cycle schemes and health packages.

PLEASE NOTE THIS POSITION IS ONLY BASED AT PENDLETON GATEWAY BUT YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO WORK IN VARIOUS LOCATIONS.

As a Relief Cleaner you will be required to work in various schools and non-educational buildings within the area of your base school. You will clean the building to a high standard ensuring that it is a pleasant environment for visitors and staff. Duties will include cleaning, buffing, sweeping, vacuum cleaning and other general domestic cleaning duties.

The payment for this will be deducted from your first four months’ salary payments at a rate of £12.38 per month (£10.25 per month from 5th October 2026). If you do not commence employment for any reason but the DBS has been processed, you will be sent an invoice for the payment of £49.50 (£41 from 5th October 2026).
