Job summary

Arc Hospitality Recruitment is seeking experienced agency relief chefs to join our growing team for a variety of venues across the North East. You will lead kitchen teams, maintain high culinary standards, and ensure smooth service during busy events, race days, weddings and hotel service.

The role offers flexible hours, competitive pay with holiday pay, and opportunities to work at world-class events across diverse venues. Previous agency relief experience is highly valued.

Qualifications

• Experience in professional kitchen environments, especially agency relief work.
• Food Safety Level 2, Food Allergen, and Health & Safety Level 2 certificates.
• Eligible to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Cook to specification and menu creation where applicable.
• Product delivery, standards and innovation.
• Kitchen cleaning and equipment maintenance.
• Record food/fridge temps and wastage; due diligence.
• Liaise with front of house staff and management.
• Stock control, waste management and finances.
• Uphold Health & Safety, Food Hygiene and COSHH requirements.

Wages - £16.00ph - £20.00ph + holiday pay (Depending on experience)

Arc Hospitality Recruitment is expanding our relief chef team and we’re looking for experienced, professional chefs to join us on this exciting journey.

We’re building a team of the North East’s best culinary talent to support an exciting portfolio of events, racecourses, and high‑end hotels and we want you on board!

We’re not just filling shifts. We’re creating a go‑to team of elite chefs who set the standard across the region’s thriving hospitality scene.

As an Agency Relief Chef, you’ll step into key positions and deliver consistently excellent service. You’ll be expected to:

• Lead and support kitchen teams across a variety of venues
• Maintain high culinary standards and presentation under pressure
• Ensure smooth service during busy race days, corporate events, weddings, and hotel service
• Adapt quickly to different kitchen environments and teams
• Uphold food safety, hygiene, and compliance at all times

Responsibilities and Duties

• Cook to specification and opportunity for menu creation.
• Product Delivery, Standards and Innovation
• Cleaning the kitchen & it’s equipment
• Due diligence, Record food/fridge temps & wastage
• Liaising with Front of House Staff and Management.
• Stock Control, Waste Management and Finance
• Health & Safety, Food Hygiene and Maintenance
• Be aware of and adhere to Health and Safety at Work, COSHH and other legislation at all times.

What you need?

• Food Safety Level 2 certificate - From last 3 years
• Food Allergen certificate - From last 3 years
• Health & Safety Level 2 - From last 3 years
• You will have an NVQ Level 2/3 Professional Cookery or relevant experience in the role.
• Good Knowledge of food and passion for delivering high quality, affordable, on-the-go and sit-down meals.
• Eligible to work in the UK
• An eagerness to work hard & enthusiasm for your role
