Job summary

McCarthy & Stone's Thomas Court development in Pen-y-lan, Cardiff, is seeking a Relief Care & Support Assistant to deliver high-quality care to residents and assist with housekeeping and apartment cleans.

You will support residents with appointments, transport, and accompanying visits, while encouraging participation in activities to promote health and wellbeing. The role offers flexible on-site shifts and a warm, team-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in care or support environments is preferred.
• Passion for improving wellbeing and happiness of older people.
• Driven to deliver excellent customer service.
• QCF Health and Social Care Level 2 or equivalent qualifications considered.

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality care to residents.
• Deliver housekeeping and domestic support including apartment cleans.
• Encourage residents to participate in activities to support health and wellbeing.
• Help residents book appointments and arrange transport; escort on visits when needed.
• Assist with shopping and other daily tasks as required.

Job description

McCarthy & Stone are recruiting for a professional Relief Care Assistant to join the team at our prestigious Thomas Court development in Pen-y-lan, Cardiff. Built in 2013, Thomas Court is a Retirement Living Plus development that consists of 58 apartments with the over 70's in mind, providing excellent on-site facilities and set within beautiful grounds.

Hourly rate:

£13.26 per hour, plus up to an additional £1.30 for working evenings and weekends.

Hours:

To cover shifts on an 'as and when' basis when required, to be discussed with the development Manager.

About the role:

As a Relief Care & Support Assistant you will provide the highest quality of individual care to our residents enabling them to live later life well. You will deliver housekeeping and domestic support across the general estate, including apartment cleans. Duties will be varied and include supporting and encouraging our residents to take part in a wide range of activities that support their health and wellbeing. You will help them to book appointments, arrange transport and where necessary, escort them on visits and assist with their shopping. Every day will be diverse, and you’ll have the opportunity to use your people skills to make a real difference.

About You

• You will be a warm, friendly individual with ideally some experience of working in a care or support environment.
• You will have a passion for making a difference to the wellbeing and happiness of older people and enjoy working as part of team in a busy work setting.
• You will be driven to deliver excellent customer service.
• You will want to work in the Health and Social care sector and preferably have a QCF Health and Social Care (Adults) Level 2 qualification,although consideration will be given to a candidate with an alternative qualifications and relevant experience.
