Job summary

Academics Ltd is seeking a dependable School Caretaker for a primary school in Blaenau Gwent. The role requires hands-on maintenance, cleaning, and ensuring a safe, welcoming site for pupils and staff. Start date is 2 November with split shifts from early morning to late afternoon.

The position offers a competitive hourly rate (£15–£18) based on experience and the chance to contribute to a local school community. Prior caretaking or maintenance experience is preferred but not essential.

Qualifications

• Caretaking or facilities maintenance experience.
• Practical abilities for minor repairs.
• Reliable, proactive and hardworking.
• Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks.
• Strong commitment to health, safety and site security.
• Experience in a school environment is beneficial but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Opening and securing the school premises at designated times.
• Carrying out general maintenance and minor repairs.
• Keeping school buildings and outdoor areas clean, tidy and presentable.
• Undertaking cleaning duties when required.
• Identifying faults and reporting maintenance or safety concerns.
• Assisting with the smooth day‑to‑day operation of the school site.
• Helping provide a safe and welcoming environment for everyone on the premises.
