Job summary

Metrol is seeking a Reliability Engineer to join the Electronics R&D team. You will address product reliability challenges, qualify components for high reliability applications, and collaborate across engineering, production and QA to mitigate risks.

The role involves reviewing components, applying qualification methods, and maintaining thorough documentation to support reliability improvements within the PCB and electronics domain.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electronic Engineering or related discipline.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Good verbal and written communication skills for technical reporting.
• Proficiency with standard computer applications.
• Previous experience in electronic design or test.

Responsibilities

• Track, review and investigate product and component reliability issues; report findings and suggest improvements.
• Collaborate with engineering, production and QA to assess reliability issues.
• Carry out critical component reviews to identify obsolescence or lead-time risks.
• Implement electronic component qualification to meet design/manufacturing needs.
• Maintain documentation on test and reliability issues to communicate risks.
• Develop knowledge of high-reliability design and manufacturing techniques.
• Understand electronic component/PCB manufacturing methods, failure mechanisms and analysis.
• Support PCB manufacturing/reliability improvements through testing with Metrol engineers and external suppliers.
