Job summary

Steamship Mutual is seeking a Reinsurance Assistant to provide data analytics support to the Reinsurance team and assist with claims, premiums, and recoveries. The role includes pool data entry, ledger duties, and preparation of statements, with training on Business Objects and accounting systems.

The successful candidate will have advanced Excel skills, strong communication, and the ability to work flexibly within a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel spreadsheets.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills at all levels, both written and oral.

Responsibilities

• Support Head of Reinsurance and Chief Underwriting Officer with data analytics on claims trends across categories, vessel types and locations.
• Assist with claims and premium declarations to reinsurers, premium payments and claim recoveries.
• Assist with Pool claims declarations.
• File correspondence and documentation promptly and accurately according to procedures.
• Provide support to Reinsurance, Claims and Underwriting teams as required.
• Compose accurate and professional business correspondence.
• Respond to telephone inquiries promptly and courteously.
• Contribute to development of company procedures and systems.
• Attend training to develop knowledge and skills.
• Data entry for pool data and recovery statements; run reconciliation reports.
• Ledger Keeper duties including payments to clubs/reinsurance brokers and cash allocation.
• Monthly statements of account and liaising with P&I Clubs/ Brokers on payments.
