Job summary

Aviva plc is seeking a senior technical reinsurance specialist to protect our financial position by expertly managing high‑value reinsurance claims and recoveries across multiple lines. You will analyse large datasets, interpret treaty and facultative wording, and build strong relationships with brokers, reinsurers and internal stakeholders to deliver accurate recoveries and improve portfolio performance.

This is a great job for someone who is a technical reinsurance specialist with deep expertise across reinsurance arrangements. You enjoy working on complex claims and recoveries, using data, contract knowledge and market expertise to deliver the best possible outcomes.

You may already be working in a senior reinsurance claims, recoveries or reinsurance operations role and are looking for an opportunity where your technical knowledge can have a broader impact. You're confident analysing large datasets, interpreting reinsurance contracts and building strong relationships with brokers, reinsurers and internal stakeholders.

A bit about the job

This role exists to protect Aviva's financial position through expert management of our reinsurance claims portfolio and recovery activity. You'll join our Major & Complex Reinsurance Claims team, working across high-value and technically complex claims spanning multiple business lines and reinsurance structures. Working closely with underwriting, finance, actuarial and risk teams, you'll provide technical expertise on treaty and facultative reinsurance matters while managing complex recoveries and portfolio performance. You'll be accountable for delivering accurate and timely recoveries, maintaining strong market relationships and helping to continually strengthen Aviva's reinsurance claims capability.

Skills and experience we're looking for

• Significant experience in reinsurance claims, recoveries or a technical reinsurance environment, with expert knowledge of both treaty and facultative reinsurance.
• Strong understanding of reinsurance contract structures and wording interpretation, with the ability to apply technical knowledge to complex claims and recovery scenarios.
• Advanced Excel and data analysis skills, with experience analysing, validating and interpreting large and complex reinsurance datasets to support decision‑making and recovery outcomes.
• Proven experience working with reinsurers, brokers and internal stakeholders to resolve technical issues, challenge outcomes and deliver successful recoveries.
• Experience providing technical leadership, guidance or oversight within a reinsurance function, with a focus on operational excellence and continuous improvement.
