Specialist Interim & Contract Accounting & Finance Recruiter for the Insurance industry

Regulatory Reporting Accountant (IFRS17 & Statutory Returns) | 10-12m FTC | £75,000-£80,000 | London/Hybrid (2/3 days per week office based)

Arthur have partnered with a leading London market insurer to support with their search for a qualified accountant to join our Finance team, with responsibility for preparing statutory and regulatory returns for UK insurance entities.

You will also play a key role in delivering IFRS 17 reporting across multiple locations. This is a high-impact role requiring strong technical expertise, a sharp eye for detail, and effective cross-functional collaboration. You’ll be expected to uphold and reflect core values in all aspects of your work.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning & Forecasting:

  • Manage and prioritise your workload to align with team objectives and key deliverables.
  • Prepare capital forecasts for legal entities, including IFRS 17-based positions.
  • Deliver capital and liquidity analysis for selected branches, including Trust Fund assessments.

Statutory & Regulatory Reporting:

  • Prepare detailed working papers to support the review and submission of regulatory returns.
  • Clearly communicate results, key assumptions, and conclusions to the reporting manager.
  • Perform analytical reviews and validate collected data, investigating and escalating anomalies.
  • Maintain and update methodology documentation to support consistent reporting processes.
  • Identify and support system/process improvements to enhance reporting efficiency.
  • Ensure robust financial controls and governance over regulatory reporting processes.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Work closely with internal Finance teams including Technical Accounting, Finance Systems, FP&A, and Tax.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams such as Actuarial, Capital Modelling, Reinsurance, and Risk to support accurate and timely reporting.

Technical Delivery:

  • Apply in-depth knowledge of financial reporting standards (UK GAAP, IFRS, ideally US GAAP) and insurance accounting practices.
  • Stay informed of regulatory requirements and ensure compliance across all reporting outputs.

Candidate Profile:

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACCA/ACA/CIMA) with at least 2 years post-qualification experience in the insurance industry.
  • Previous experience managing or mentoring junior team members is desirable.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong understanding of the UK Companies Act, UK GAAP, and IFRS (knowledge of US GAAP is a plus).
  • Solid grasp of insurance-specific technical accounting and reporting standards.
  • Proficient in MS Excel (advanced), Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Coda and Coda XL is advantageous.
