Job summary

American Express' General Counsel’s Organization in London is seeking an Associate Counsel (Financial Services Regulatory) to monitor and advise on payments regulation across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

You will partner with GCO, Compliance, Government Affairs and regulators to translate complex rules into actionable guidance for our business teams, across card issuing, merchant acquiring and payments.

Qualifications

• Qualified to practise law in the UK with UK/EU regulatory experience.
• Experience advising on regulatory matters in UK and EU.
• Familiarity with payments regulation areas such as payment services, AML, FSMA.
• Strong drafting, research and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Advise on payment services regulation for the EMEA region and report developments.
• Track, interpret and report regulatory developments for internal stakeholders.
• Develop and communicate company positions in response to regulatory consultations.
• Collaborate with GCO lawyers, Compliance, Government Affairs, regulators and trade groups.
