Job summary

Ofcom’s Online Safety Group is seeking an Policy Advisor (Associate) to help regulate online safety by developing policy guidance and shaping codes. You will collaborate with legal, technologists, economists and researchers to understand online harms and deliver robust policy across services.

You’ll contribute to priority areas such as AI, age assurance, and platform features, with opportunities to grow analytical and project management skills in a dynamic regulatory environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in regulatory policy development, including gathering/analyzing information from multiple sources and drafting policy documents.
• Knowledge in AI, age assurance, online platform features (e.g., Proactive Tech, Recommender Systems & Content Moderation) is beneficial.
• Ability to present evidence-based options and assess impacts.

Responsibilities

• Uses initiative to understand how work contributes to One Ofcom priorities.
• Delivers priorities on time to a high standard.
• Supports project teams to solve complex policy problems by developing options and assessing risks.
• Researches and analyses data sources and synthesises conclusions.
• Produces clear, concise documents for internal/external publication.
• Provides practical project management support (planning, meetings, reporting).
• Maintains relationships with online services to understand protections for users.
• Keeps abreast of online trends and the public policy landscape.
