Job summary

THG Nutrition is seeking a UK/EU Regulatory Officer to ensure compliant labelling and claims for THG’s nutrition brands across the UK and EU markets. The role reports to Regulatory Manager and sits in the Regulatory Team at the Head Office near Manchester Airport.

You will work with NPD/EPD teams, review marketing content, and perform risk assessments while keeping regulatory knowledge current and training staff where needed. This is an on-site role in the Manchester area.

Qualifications

• Qualification in Nutrition, Food Technology, Food Law, Food Science, Food Safety or related subject.
• Good understanding of UK/EU food and food supplement regulations and use of claims.
• Strong attention to detail and time management.
• Excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills and time management.

Responsibilities

• Provide regulatory input on key business projects.
• Maintain up-to-date regulations and guidance.
• Identify regulatory/compliance issues and coordinate mitigations with senior team members.
• Support NPD/EPD for THG Nutrition brands including Myprotein and Myvitamins.
• Review labelling and marketing material for regulatory compliance.
• Assist with nutrition analyses and country-specific regulatory checks.
• Advise on nutrition/health claims for labels and websites.
• Review company websites for country-specific regulatory compliance.
• Manage liquor product registration in EU Member States (if applicable).
• Perform regulatory risk assessments and horizon scan regulatory changes.

About Regulatory & Compliance and the Role

THG is looking to recruit a UK/EU Regulatory Officer with an understanding of EU Regulations pertaining to labelling of food and food supplements for UK/EU Countries, to join our Regulatory Team. The role is reporting into the Regulatory Manager. With a focus on brand protection, the Regulatory Team plays a critical role in ensuring that our products can be marketed and sold legally all over the world. The role is based from our Head Office near Manchester Airport, this role offers the opportunity to contribute to the Global success of THG and our market-leading brands.

Responsibilities

• Supporting from a regulatory position on key business projects.
• Upkeep and maintenance of a comprehensive suite of applicable regulations and guidance.
• Proactively identifying potential Regulatory / compliance issues and working together with the senior members of the team to reduce and/or eradicate their impact.
• Input on regulatory requirements for New Product Development (NPD) and Existing Product Development (EPD) for THG Nutrition Brands including Myprotein and Myvitamins.
• Working closely with NPD on new formulations to ensure compliance in the UK and EU Member States.
• Reviewing labelling, marketing material (including campaigns/scripts/clearcast/assets) to check that they are compliant with regulatory requirements.
• Following NPD projects end to end, from initial formulation conception to launch.
• Advising on nutrition and health claims, ensuring they are correctly worded on product labelling and websites.
• Reviewing company websites to check that content is compliant with country specific regulatory requirements.
• Completing food supplement product registration in EU Member States.
• Assessing regulatory risk against commercial requirements and completing risk assessments as and when necessary.
• Horizon scanning - maintaining knowledge of upcoming regulatory challenges in the EU market based on changes in regulations and/or market trends.
• Regularly review policies to ensure they are up to date.
• Create training materials & provide training/upskilling for wider teams and stakeholders as required.
• Establishing and maintaining a strong working relationship with key stakeholders (NPD, Marketing, Brand, Commercial teams etc).
• Supporting on routine nutrition analyses.

Requirements

• Qualification in Nutrition, Food Technology, Food Law, Food Science, Food Safety or other related subject.
• Good understanding of regulations regarding food and food supplements and usage of claims in the UK/EU.
• An understanding of food industry standard practices.
• Excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills and good time management.
• Ability to communicate across different departments e.g. NPD, Brand, Marketing, SQA, QA, Packaging Artwork etc to ensure business needs are met.
• Understanding of food supplement product registration process in EU Member States would be desirable but not essential.
• Good IT Skills - (Email, Excel, Word and SharePoint).
• Experience of product specification systems (especially Oracle Brand Compliance) would be desirable but not essential.
• If you have experience managing, supporting and guiding a small team this would be an advantage.
