As the Regulatory Compliance Engineer, you will report to the Head of Life Cycle Management and develop regulatory plans for our products. You will be responsible for regulatory compliance (analyzing and identifying all applicable directives, regulations, and legislation across multiple markets, including the EU, UK, and US) and the optimization of our machinery quality system procedures (developing our internal processes and ensuring the information is transferred to the relevant stakeholders). You will also interact with outside regulatory agencies and third-party accrediting bodies.

You will be responsible for:
- Ensuring our products meet all relevant regulatory obligations and safety standards.
- Conducting and documenting risk assessments in accordance with standard procedures and ensuring compliance documents are renewed before expiration.
- Leading efforts to enhance compliance-related internal processes and safety within R&D.
- Managing and maintaining technical documentation related to product compliance, including test reports and Declarations of Conformity.
- Collaborating with design engineers and other teams to transfer and communicate critical compliance information and requirements, and with other Buhler sites to align regulatory priorities and implement Buhler process standardization within the regulatory framework.
- Ensuring compliance-related activities align with regulatory requirements and are actionable.
- Ensuring compliance of Food Contact Materials with relevant EU food safety regulations and US FDA Code.
- Assisting with onsite certifications and visits related to HazLoc, ATEX, IECEx, and NRTL.
These are the skills you'll need
Required qualifications:
- Degree or equivalent qualification in an engineering-related field.
- Deep understanding of the regulatory environments in the UK, EEA, and US, with experience bringing products to market in compliance with CE, UKCA, ATEX, NRTL, and HazLoc standards.
- Experience conducting risk assessments and implementing corrective actions for non-conformances.
- Knowledge of the Machinery Directive and requirements for compliance documentation, including Declaration of Incorporation and Declaration of Conformity.
- Familiarity with SONCAP, EAC, EAC Ex & IECEx standards; ISO9001; and EN 60204-1.
- Proven ability to handle challenging situations and manage stakeholder relationships at all levels.

- Knowledge of FDA regulations.
- Understanding of safety circuits, PL ratings, and relevant standards.
