Job description

Registered Veterinary Nurse - Small Animal (12 Month Fixed Term Contract)

Grove Vets in Barrow-in-Furness is seeking a passionate and dedicated Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our team on a maternity cover contract. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a nurse-led practice, working alongside a supportive team of 4 vets and experienced support staff.

Role Responsibilities

In this role, you will be involved in a variety of tasks that include conducting full nurse consultations (9:30 AM – 5:30 PM), assisting with surgeries and anaesthesia, and performing laboratory work, x-rays, and ultrasound. You will also provide dental care, inpatient care, and hydrotherapy, as well as play an active role in rehabilitation services. Additionally, you will handle general nursing duties and patient care across a range of species, ensuring that every patient receives the best possible care throughout their journey with us.

Why Join Grove Vets?

Located in Cumbria, Grove Vets offers an exceptional work environment in one of the most beautiful parts of the UK. Enjoy proximity to nature reserves, islands, mountains, and outdoor activities. The stunning Lake District and nearby beaches provide the perfect setting for those who love the outdoors.

Our practice is well-equipped, featuring digital x-ray, dental x-ray, ultrasound, an in-house laboratory, and a hydrotherapy unit. We’re excited to soon introduce K-Laser therapy to enhance our rehabilitation services. Our hydrotherapy unit plays a vital role in rehabilitating patients recovering from orthopaedic surgery, as well as those with osteoarthritis and weight management needs. One of our RVNs is currently expanding her knowledge by undertaking a physiotherapy and rehabilitation course to further improve our services.

Additionally, one of our surgeons has a qualification in ophthalmology, and we regularly have a visiting cardiology specialist, giving our team the chance to be involved in diverse and advanced cases.

Work With A Supportive Team

At Grove Vets, we pride ourselves on our collaborative and friendly environment. We’re committed to ongoing development, both professionally and personally, with a team of 5 RVNs, 4 vets, and 4 dedicated support staff. Our team brings a wealth of experience, with some members having been in practice for over 20 years. This long-standing expertise speaks to the positive and supportive culture we foster.

Flexible Rota for a Better Work-Life Balance

We understand that work-life balance is crucial to supporting our team. Our flexible approach to rotas and working hours is designed to suit your lifestyle, no matter where you are in your career.

To help maintain this balance, our latest shift finishes at 7pm, giving you time to focus on your personal life. Typical shifts include:

8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

8:30 AM – 4:30 PM

9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

9:30 AM – 5:30 PM
