Interested in learning more about Highgate?
Highgate Vets is a first-opinion small animal practice located in Kendal, on the southern edge of the stunning Lake District. We operate two clinics: the main surgery, focused on in-depth diagnostics and care for unwell pets, and a branch dedicated to preventative medicine. All our clinical staff rotate between the two locations. We're a close-knit team that genuinely cares for one another and fosters a learning culture where everyone supports each other's growth. We were thrilled to be named a finalist in the top 3 for the Pet Plan Practice of the Year Awards in 2021.
Both of our Kendal locations are equipped with an Idexx lab, multiparameter monitors, new ultrasound, digital X-ray (including dental X-ray), drip pumps, and more! We're also Practice Standard accredited and provide training for Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVNs), with a maximum of one Student Veterinary Nurse (SVN) per Clinical Coach at any time.
Our team and culture
Currently, we have four Veterinary Surgeons, a Student Veterinary Nurse, a Veterinary Care Assistant, and five experienced Receptionists. We value team members who are enthusiastic about all aspects of general practice and those looking to grow their expertise in specific areas of veterinary care. As a Nurse Training Practice, Cat Friendly, and Practice Standards accredited, we are committed to continually enhancing patient care and client experiences. Our practice supports the local greyhound rehoming center and serves as a host venue for Pet Blood Bank.

We understand the importance of work/life balance and are happy to discuss flexible or part-time working arrangements that fit your needs. Our standard day runs from 8 am to between 6-7 pm.
