Job summary

inspiring vet care, the UK’s number one vet care provider, is seeking a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join South Wales Vets at our Abertillery practice on a 12-month fixed-term contract. We offer a 40-hour week across four days (8:30am–7:00pm) with one in four Saturdays (9:00am–2:00pm) and no out-of-hours work.

You’ll nurse first opinion cases, support surgeons and deliver high-quality client care in a supportive, growth‑minded team.

Qualifications

• RCVS registration required.
• At least one year of post-qualification experience.
• Clinical practice experience with confidence in medical and surgical nursing.
• Strong communication and client relation skills.
• Good organisational skills and workload management.
• Proactive approach to learning and improvement.

Responsibilities

• Conduct nurse-led consultations and educate clients.
• Provide high-quality nursing care, monitor patients, administer meds.
• Prepare patients for procedures and monitor anaesthesia.
• Support perioperative and postoperative care.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, team-orientated Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our team at South Wales Vets on a full-time, 12-month fixed-term basis.

South Wales Vets is a three-branch small animal practice with sites in Abertillery, Blackwood and Newport. This role is based at our Abertillery practice, where you’ll be part of a supportive team delivering high-quality first opinion care to our patients and clients.

Our practice is within a short drive of the Brecon Beacons, offering plenty of opportunities for walking, exploring and enjoying the countryside, while Cardiff is around 30 minutes away.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Registered Veterinary Nurse, you will be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering high-quality nursing care to patients while supporting excellent client experiences.

You’ll work collaboratively with veterinary surgeons and the wider practice team, taking responsibility for the nursing care of a range of first opinion cases, contributing to clinical standards, and supporting the ongoing development of patient care within the practice.

Working Pattern

• 40 hours per week
• 4 days per week, working 8:30am–7:00pm
• 1 in 4 Saturdays, working 9:00am–2:00pm
• No out-of-hours requirement
• 12-month fixed-term contract

General Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care, monitor patients, administer medications and support recovery
• Prepare patients for procedures, monitor anaesthesia and provide perioperative and post-operative care

• Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS
