Job summary

Vale Vets in Dursley is recruiting a Registered Veterinary Nurse for a 12-month fixed-term contract. The RVN will rotate across first opinion and referral departments, including surgery, wards, ophthalmology, and orthopaedics, with an expanded hospital setup featuring theatres and CT.

You’ll join a large nursing team and contribute to high standards of care, client experience, and ongoing professional development. 40 hours per week, 5 days, 1 in 8 weekends.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, team-orientated Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our team at Vale Vets and Referrals in Dursley on a full-time, 12-month fixed-term contract.

Vale Vets and Referrals are looking for an RVN to work across our first opinion and referral departments. This is a varied and rewarding opportunity for a nurse who enjoys a busy clinical environment, with the chance to rotate across areas including first opinion surgery, wards, ophthalmology, soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery, medicine and nursing clinics.

Following a hospital expansion, we have new facilities including 5 theatres, a medicine suite for ultrasound and endoscopy, a dental room, x-ray, larger ward areas with a separate cat ward and treatment room, a separate exotics ward and an onsite CT scanner.

Practice Highlights
  • Varied role across both first opinion and referral departments
  • Rotations across surgery, wards, ophthalmology, soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery, medicine and nursing clinics
  • Expanded hospital facilities including 5 theatres, medicine suite, dental room, x-ray and onsite CT scanner
  • Larger ward areas with separate cat ward, treatment room and exotics ward
  • Large nursing team of 38 RVNs, SVNs and hospital assistants
How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Registered Veterinary Nurse, you will be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering high-quality nursing care to patients while supporting excellent client experiences.

You’ll work collaboratively with veterinary surgeons and the wider practice team, taking responsibility for the nursing care of a range of first opinion and referral cases, contributing to clinical standards, and supporting the ongoing development of patient care within the practice.

Working Pattern
  • 40 hours per week
  • 5-day working week, 8-hour shifts with a 30-minute lunch break
  • 1 in 8 weekends, with time off in lieu
  • Minimal weekday on-call duties
