Job summary

PDSA Glasgow is seeking a Qualified Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our friendly team. You’ll be involved in nurse consultations, inpatient care, dispensing medications and assisting in theatre, including Schedule 3 surgery.

You’ll deliver high standards of nursing care while keeping pets calm and owners informed. We offer a supportive, purpose-led environment with flexible work patterns and a strong commitment to animal welfare.

Qualifications

• Qualified RVN with registration.
• Experience in a busy hospital environment is desirable.

About you

You’llplay a key role across the hospital, getting involved in nurse consultations, inpatient care, dispensing medications andassistingin theatre, including Schedule 3 surgery.You’lltake pride in deliveringhigh standardsof nursing care while keeping pets calm and owners informed, andyou’llbe comfortable working as part of a close-knit team to keep things running smoothly.

About the hospital

PDSA Glasgow is a highly collaborative, effective hospital, a great place for teamwork, case discussion and shared learning. Our teams have varied clinical interests, giving you access to a wide pool of knowledge and experience when discussing cases and treatment plans.No two days are the same, with opportunities to work across a broad range of clinical areas within the hospital.

Our Pet Hospitals are modern and well-equipped and include separate dog and cat kennelling facilities, in-house radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, pipedgasesand extensive orthopaedic equipment.Getting to and from the hospital is convenient with easy access to the M74 and M8, as well as free off-street parking in a secure car park.

Work pattern & rota

We recognise the importance of work–life balance and have a rota designed to support it:

• Full-time or part-time hours considered, with flexibility around days and hours where possible.
• Work a range of 7.5-hour shifts between 8:30am and 6:00pm, supporting inpatient care, theatre, consultations, dispensary and telephone consults.
• Structured shift start and finish times, with regular protected breaks.
• Work 1 in 8 weekends with time off in lieu/stand-down and pay uplift. Bank holidays are covered on a rota, typically1–2 per year, paid at overtime rates.
