Job summary

Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a GPhC-registered Pharmacy Technician to join a busy pharmacy team. The role welcomes applicants from community or other pharmacy sectors, with hospital experience not essential, and offers Band 4/5 progression with ACCREDITED CHECKING on move to Band 5.

You will complete an in-house competency programme including supervisory and leadership training to prepare you for line management when competent, in a fast-paced environment focused on patient

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent patient care for inpatients and outpatients.
• Work with EPIC and Omnicell to dispense accurately and cost-effectively.
• Label, dispense and check a wide range of prescriptions including specials and clinical trials.
• Engage in medicines management rotations and medicines reconciliation.
• Demonstrate communication, accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks.

Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for GPhC-registered Pharmacy Technician to join our team. We welcome applicants from community or other pharmacy sectors, and previous hospital experience is not essential. This is a Band 4/5 progression post, with Band 5 covering accredited checking (if not already achieved) and leadership development for those already holding ACT status. You will complete a comprehensive in-house competency programme, including supervisory and leadership training, to equip you with the skills needed for hands‑on line management once competent. • Provide excellent patient care for inpatients, outpatients and external units.
• Work with the EPIC electronic prescribing system and Omnicell automated dispensing cabinets to deliver an accurate, timely and cost‑effective pharmacy service.
• Duties include accurate labelling, dispensing and checking of a wide range of prescriptions, including controlled drugs, clinical trials, TPN, chemotherapy, home IV therapies and palliative care medicines.
• Medicines management rotations will offer direct patient contact, including taking medication histories, medicines reconciliation, supporting safe and correct use of prescribed medicines and counselling patients on new treatments.
• A competency unit will be provided for each area to ensure full training is completed and competence is demonstrated before independent working is expected., The post holder will be a GPhC-registered Pharmacy Technician, responsible for delivering high‑quality, safe and efficient pharmacy services.
  They will demonstrate excellent communication skills, accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of their work.
• The role requires the ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a large, diverse team.
• The post holder will follow established procedures, uphold professional standards and support the wider pharmacy service as needed.
