To work within Gynaecology outpatients and the Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit, supporting the delivery of a patient focused gynaecology service, providing confidential advice, assess patients' needs and support them in potentially difficult and psychological sensitive circumstances.

The role of a patient advocate is to support informed choices and empowering women to select treatment options is paramount whilst ensuring that colleagues respect the vulnerabilities of this client group.

Ensure nursing practice is in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and any specific competencies for the role are completed.

To have successfully completed the Trusts preceptorship programme (applicable only to newly qualified and return to practice Registered Nurses).

Maintain a high standard of nursing care applying evidence-based practice.

Provide the clinical expertise necessary for the efficient management of gynaecology patients on Emerson Unit and the Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit, undertaking a full range of clinical duties relevant to the area of practise.

Ensure patients are Informed of appropriate and relevant support networks and agencies i.e chaplaincy, miscarriage association, ectopic pregnancy trust and local support groups.

Communicate with service users and their relatives/carers on emotional and sensitive issues.

To learn and be competent in a variety of clinics, ranging from, suspected cancer 2WW clinics, hysteroscopy and myosure clinics, colposcopy clinics, general gynaecology clinics and urogynaecology clinics.

To effectively manage a hyperemesis patient within the Early Pregnancy Unit.

Carry out assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care and escalate any clinical concerns to a senior nurse as required.
