Job Opportunity: Specialist Nurse - Colposcopy Service

Join the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) team as an experienced specialist nurse to lead and develop the colposcopy service alongside our Consultant Gynaecologist.

Role Responsibilities
  1. Practice independently as a Nurse Colposcopist, accredited by the British Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (BSCCP).
  2. Hold the Colposcopy Screening Programme Lead (CSPL) role as defined by Public Health England (PHE).
  3. Work as an advanced practitioner, leading and delivering expert nursing services within the Gynaecology Department.
  4. Maintain a cost-effective service aligned with departmental, care group, and Trust objectives.
  5. Manage a patient caseload within the Colposcopy service, leading multidisciplinary team meetings to ensure timely reviews and patient communication.
  6. Provide full support and information to patients and their families, including clinical and social support.
  7. Develop evidence-based clinical nursing practices in line with current research and guidelines.
  8. Deliver an evidence-based, responsive specialist nursing service tailored to referred patients, adhering to local protocols and national guidelines, through face-to-face or telephone consultations.
  9. Demonstrate advanced practice skills in holistic assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care, demonstrating autonomy and advocacy, in accordance with BSCCP/NHSCSP guidelines.
  10. Allocate 20% of role time to administration, audits, MDT planning, and national reporting.
  11. Assess and manage psychological reactions related to diagnosis, treatment, and side effects, including risks of cervical cancer, STDs, and fertility concerns.
