Job Overview

Join our Pre-Operative Assessment team at WGH in a temporary secondment role. We seek experienced POA nurses to ensure theatre capacity is optimized and patients have a safe, positive elective surgery experience.

Main Duties

• Conduct holistic pre-operative assessments, managing complex co-morbidities, health promotion, and physical examinations autonomously.
• Collaborate with surgical teams, anaesthetists, GPs, and other specialists to ensure patient fitness and readiness for surgery.

Person Specification

• Degree-level education or working towards it
• Monitoring/Assessing qualification or Teaching qualification/Trainer's Certificate
• Proficient in Word and Excel
• Recent clinical experience in POA or similar environment
• Ability to take a lead role and work autonomously
• Competent in physical assessment and ECG recording
• People management and change management skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Self-motivated, enthusiastic, flexible, tactful, and diplomatic
• Experience in health promotion and understanding of R&D and RTT pathways
