Job description

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and motivated registered Nurse to join a busy and well-respected Integrated Learning Disability Service, which covers the Lancashire locality.

This is an exciting opportunity to gain wide-ranging experience of community services for people with learning disabilities. This service strives to provide forward-thinking high-quality services, working in partnership with other agencies. In addition to working with people with learning disabilities, their families, and carers, we have a strong commitment to health promotion through service development and training initiatives.

We are committed to helping our staff develop, and you will be part of an enthusiastic and experienced team.

We are looking for a registered Nurse with an up-to-date knowledge of health policy for people with learning disabilities. Adaptability, good communication skills, and self-motivation are essential.

The Community Learning Disability Team in Pennine is a friendly supportive multi-disciplinary team based across 3 sites: Darwen, Accrington, and Burnley. We pride ourselves on our holistic approach to supporting the health needs of adults with learning disabilities and our drive for continuous service development across all professions. We meet monthly as a whole team alternating virtual and face-to-face meetings to support the provision of a community service to individuals with a learning disability in a defined area of Lancashire, ensuring that healthcare needs are met and contractual agreements fulfilled.

A registered learning disability nurse, with knowledge of health policy and legislation applicable to people with a learning disability and/or Autism, is required. Adaptability, good communication skills, and self-motivation are essential, alongside skills in working with people who have complex health needs, challenging behavior, and/or Autism, including the demonstration that practice is evidence-based and innovative.

The post holder will be responsible for a defined caseload alongside the supervision of junior members of staff.

Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of services including secondary mental health care across this area. Specialist provision comprises inpatient child and adolescent mental health services, perinatal mental health, and forensic services including low and medium secure care.

The Trust also provides a range of physical health and well-being services in the community alongside a range of partners in the Lancashire, Cumbria, and Sefton area.

Lancashire & South Cumbria Foundation Trust encourages flexible working; we believe that a positive work/life balance benefits NHS employees through improved health and wellbeing. We would consider working patterns such as term time, part time, compressed hours, flexi-time, and career breaks. We encourage applicants to state clearly on their application forms this request and discuss these options at interview.
