Job summary

NHS Professionals is recruiting oncology nurses to join our flexible bank workforce across England's NHS Trusts. This role offers diverse ward exposure, helping deliver compassionate cancer care in hospital and community settings.

You will maintain patient observations, follow safe policy procedures for IV/SC devices and enteral feeding tubes, and communicate clearly with patients and the healthcare team while ensuring medicines are correctly administered and secured.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 6 months paid oncology ward experience required.
  • Comply with NMC registration and up-to-date nursing practices.
  • IV therapy training and no restrictions on practice.
  • Degree or Diploma in Nursing

Responsibilities

Responsibilities
  • Maintaining accurate clinical observations of patients; escalating concerns as appropriate
  • To be aware of the safe policy and procedures for using subcutaneous and intravenous devices and usage of enteral feeding tubes
  • To communicate effectively with patients, relatives and the healthcare team, while being mindful of possible barriers to understanding
  • To have responsibility for the correct administration and custody of medicines according to the Trust Policy, Being a Oncology nurse in the NHS is a versatile and impactful role that spans across various healthcare settings, from hospitals to community clinics. It involves providing comprehensive care to patients of all ages and backgrounds, addressing both acute medical needs and long-term health management. The flexibility in scheduling allows general nurses to balance their professional responsibilities with personal commitments, ensuring they can deliver compassionate and effective care while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

Requirements
  • A minimum of 6 months paid experience within an oncology ward environment within the last 3 years
  • Comply with NMC Professional Registration and keep up to date with current nursing practices, Minimum of 6-months experience working as a Oncology Nurse in an NHS hospital setting in the past 2-years Previous experience working within Oncology
  • IV Therapy Trained Be a Qualified Nurse with NMC Pin and no restrictions, Degree /Diploma in Nursing, Statement of NMC Registration
  • Degree /Diploma in Nursing
