Job description

Overview

We are recruiting for a Registered Nurse who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

An Endoscopy Nurse is a registered nurse who provides specialised care to patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, such as gastroscopy, colonoscopy, bronchoscopy, and ERCP.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for procedures, assist the endoscopist, monitor patient safety throughout the procedure, and provide post-procedural care and education.
• Apply infection control expertise and maintain clinical competence in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
• Participate in the Emergency on-call service 24/7; participate in the on-call rota out of hours, bank holidays and weekends with a 24/7 on-call service.
• Work with the Endoscopy coordinator to organise the Endoscopy list daily, planning sessions in a timely and efficient way.
• Be able to efficiently take charge of a session in the Endoscopy unit.
• Support and supervise junior or non-registered staff and students in Endoscopy; develop knowledge and competencies in line with the JETS Endoscopy profile.
• Provide care, support and advice for patients, relatives and carers undergoing endoscopic procedures.
• Communicate within the multi-disciplinary team to deliver high standards of evidence-based care.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse (RN) with ability to provide specialised endoscopic care.
• Endoscopy experience and infection control expertise preferred; ability to work in a fast-paced environment and in a multidisciplinary team.
• Ability to participate in and manage the Emergency on-call service as part of the on-call rota 24/7, including out-of-hours, bank holidays and weekends.
