Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board in North Wales is seeking a Band 5 registered nurse to provide high-quality nursing care in the Emergency Department on a 24/7 rotational basis.

The role includes induction, competency framework, opportunities for advanced training including mentorship, intravenous additives, venepuncture, cannulation, ECG interpretation, and trauma care. Welsh language ability is desirable; English speakers welcome.

Qualifications

  • Be a Band 5 registered nurse with current registration.
  • Provide high standard of skilled nursing care in ED on a 24/7 rotational service.
  • Participate in specialty induction and competency framework.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care within the Emergency Department.
  • Contribute to a safe patient environment and high-quality care.
  • Support learning and development within the ED team.
  • Undertake courses in Mentorship in Practice, IV additives, venepuncture and cannulation, ECG recording/interpretation.
  • Develop trauma care skills through Team Trauma Wales training.

Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Emergency Department in Ysbyty Gwynedd for a highly motivated and flexible Band 5 registered nurse who will provide a high standard of skilled nursing care within the department on a 24 hour, 7 day a week service on a rotational basis.


The ED team works hard to work together for patients and puts patient's safety at the heart of everything we do. Communication and valuing and respecting each other are key requirements for joining this team.


A supportive learning environment is central to the department's objectives and learning and being innovative are essential criteria.


You will receive a specialty specific induction programme that is supported by a competency framework for you to complete alongside a dedicated Practice Development Nurse, as well as be provided opportunities to further develop your nursing career through courses including Mentorship in Practice, intravenous additives, venepuncture and cannulation, recording and interpretation of ECG's. Within the ED, you may also undertake Advanced Life Support training, Paediatric Intermediate Life Support as well as develop your skill in trauma management via the undertaking of a dedicated trauma course with Team Trauma Wales.


The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
