Job summary

Hywel Dda University Health Board is seeking a Band 5 Registered Nurse to join the Critical Care Unit at Glangwili General Hospital in Carmarthen. This part-time post includes day/night shifts, weekends and bank holidays.

An exciting vacancy has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who is interested in developing their Critical Care skills.
The purpose-built Critical Care Unit in Glangwili General Hospital is looking for a Band 5 Registered Nurse. This post is part time which will include days/nights/ weekend and bank holidays.

Main duties of the job

Successful applicants will be fully supported whilst gaining experience in the care of critically ill patients undergoing a variety of critical care interventions.
The successful candidates will ideally demonstrate some knowledge of Critical Care Nursing, but this is not essential and have a willingness to develop their skills further, playing an integral part in integrating critical care across Glangwili.
The applicants should be able to demonstrate the use of evidence-based practice and be proactive in managing change. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, together with a readiness to innovate and develop nursing within a team approach.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Interviews will be held on 19/10/2026.

Hywel Dda University Health Board plans and provides NHS healthcare services for people living in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, and bordering counties.
We have over 13,000 staff and together we provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services.
