Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting an Registered Nurse to join the inpatient team on Langley Ward, delivering high-quality, recovery-focused care for adults with mental health conditions and learning disabilities. We welcome both experienced RNLD/RMN and Newly Registered Nurses, with full training and Preceptorship to support career development.

Registered Nurse

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate RNLD/RMN to join our inpatient team. We deliver high-quality, patient-centred care that promotes recovery, wellbeing, safety, dignity, and social inclusion.

Langley Ward support individuals diagnosed with a mental health condition, a Learning Disability and/or Autism, who have had contact with the criminal justice system.

Whether you're an experienced Registered Nurse or a Newly Registered Nurse, this is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a service that puts patient care first. You will have the time and support to make a real difference every day.

Student Nurse's that are due to register in the next 3 months are very welcome to apply. Full training and Preceptorship programme will be provided to help you build confidence and develop your career in this specialist area.

Our aim is to improve the lives of people using our services by minimising the impact of their condition / legal status through the delivery of excellent services to promote recovery and wellbeing. The service runs 24 hours a day seven days a week, therefore nights and weekends are an expectation of the role.

Main duties of the job

In this role, you will deliver high-quality, recovery-focused, and person-centred care that minimises the impact of health conditions and promotes overall wellbeing. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will plan and coordinate patient care, assess complex needs, manage clinical risk, and administer medications safely.

The successful applicant will demonstrate confidence, have excellent communication skills and maintain a compassionate approach when encouraging skill development and independence.

Leadership & delegation skills, alongside the ability to use initiative, are also essential aspects of the role. You will need to be able to build therapeutic relationships with people diagnosed with a Learning Disability and/or mental health condition. This is a challenging but rewarding role in a well-established team.

Person Specification

Qualifications

• Current professional registration with Nursing & Midwifery Council RNMH or RNLD
• To be recognised practice assessor / mentor or work towards in an agreed timescale
• Trained Clinical Supervisor (within 6 month probationary period)
• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development

Experience

• Working with people with mental ill health / learning disabilities
• Working in a person centred therapeutic organisation
• Working collaboratively with service users and their families/carers
• Working in a multi-disciplinary team
• Working in partnership with other agencies

Knowledge

• Evidence based knowledge of best practice in caring for patients in learning disabilities
• Understanding of relevant legislation (eg Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act)
• Understanding of Safeguarding and its application in practice
• Clinical risk assessment and management and its application in practiceConfident working knowledge of clinical medicines management, including administration of injections

Knowledge/Skills/Experience

• Communicate complex and sensitive information effectively to patients, carers/families and all members of the multidisciplinary team
• Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Undertake lead professional/care co-ordinator responsibilities (following probationary period)
