Job summary

Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 5 Mental Health Nurse to join a Community Interventions and Hub Team. You will work with adults with enduring mental health issues in a multi-disciplinary setting, focusing on recovery and quality of life.

You will receive supervision and support from a cohesive leadership team and have opportunities for professional development within a dynamic trust.

Qualifications

• Current professional registration with NMC RNMH or RNLD.
• Recognised practice assessor/mentor or working towards in agreed timescale.
• Trained Clinical Supervisor or working towards in agreed timescale.
• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
• Experience with mental ill health / learning disabilities.
• Experience in person-centred therapeutic organisation.
• Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team with families/carers.
• Knowledge of Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, Safeguarding and risk governance.
• Medicines management and injections experience.
• Ability to travel independently as required.

Come and join the East Durham Community intervention and hub Team. The Team are looking for a Mental Health Nurse to join the team to aid our journey to change and improve the local community's experience with mental health services, adopting a 'no wrong door approach'.

Main duties of the job

This is an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 mental health nurse to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team. As a community mental health nurse, you will have a genuine interest in working with adults experiencing enduring and complex mental health problems including their carers and families.

As a registered professional this is an ideal opportunity for someone who wants to develop their leadership and clinical skills within a community setting. As a core member of the team, you will support patients through the combined pathway of care focusing on recovery and improving quality of life. You will demonstrate excellent assessment skills, interpersonal, and team working skills and be able to work collaboratively with a range of statutory and third sector agencies.

Qualifications

Essential

• Current professional registration with Nursing & Midwifery Council RNMH or RNLD
• To be recognised practice assessor / mentor or work towards in an agreed timescale

Experience Essential

• Working with people with mental ill health / learning disabilities
• Working in a person centred therapeutic organisation
• Working collaboratively with service users and their families/carers

• Working in partnership with other agencies

Knowledge Essential

• Evidence based knowledge of best practice in caring for patients in the designated field.
• Understanding of relevant legislation (e.g. Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act)
• Understanding of Safeguarding and its application in practice
• Clinical Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice
• Clinical Governance and its application in practice.
• Confident working knowledge of clinical medicines management, including administration of injections
