Middlesbrough Community team within the Mental Health & Learning Disability NHS Trust is seeking an experienced Mental Health Nurse to join our journey to improve local mental health services. Job summary

Come and join the Middlesbrough Community team. We are looking for an experienced Mental Health Nurse to join our journey to change and improve the local community's experience with mental health services, adopting a "no wrong door approach",

We encourage discussions staff to come along to visit, our bases and discuss opportunities and get to know the MDT. Within this role we will support you to expand on your knowledge and expertise with opportunity to develop special interests such as substance misuse and psychological interventions.

The interventions team will provide complex interventions supporting people with severe and enduring mental health conditions whilst our identified multi agency. The Community team will support with short term interventions in collaboration with partner agencies and voluntary partners.

You will be a valued member of the team and will develop excellent working relationships with our partners and stakeholders. This innovative approach will provide opportunities for growth in your practice and professional development.

You can expect regular supervision and support from a very cohesive and supportive leadership team. The service currently operates Monday-Friday 9-5pm.

18 months post qualifying experience including sign off of appropriate preceptorship or competency framework at the point of application is essential.

Main duties of the job

As a member of the team you will provide a service to those individuals who present with mental health issues, with an emphasis on psychologically informed brief interventions.

You will be willing to work collaboratively with service users of varying ages and differing needs as well as their carers and families.

You will need to have significant experience of working with people with mental ill health in a care setting, delivering clinical interventions specific to care pathways.

You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You are required to have the ability and experience to manage complex cases in partnership with other agencies. In addition, you will further develop skills in psychological therapies, psychosocial interventions and care management.

You will encourage ongoing engagement from all staff utilising effective leadership skills. You are required to use your own initiative and make decisions independently for this post.

There is an expectation of commitment to the development of high quality care, and to engage in quality improvement activities. You will be supported with regular management and clinical supervision.

Due to the nature of the role it is essential that applicants are able to travel independently across the locality and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes. If necessary, adjustments can be considered in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.

Qualifications
Essential
  • Current professional registration with Nursing & Midwifery Council - RNMH or RNLD
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.

  • Trained in Clinical Supervision and providing clinical supervision OR willingness to work towards within 6 months
Experience

  • Providing clinical supervision to individuals or groups as professionally appropriate.
  • Supervising or assessing students on practice placement.

Knowledge

  • Understanding of relevant legislation (e.g. Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act).
  • Detailed understanding of Safeguarding and its application in practice.
  • Clinical Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice.
  • Clinical Governance and its application in practice.
  • Research and development methodology.
  • Understanding of psychological models of care and treatment.
  • Working knowledge of clinical medicines management, including administration of injections
