Job summary

The Mental Health & Learning Disability NHS Trust is seeking a Senior Practitioner to lead Practice Development Nursing across inpatient services. You will support staff and students, provide clinical supervision, mentoring and training, and drive quality improvement.

You will work with senior medical and nursing leaders to coordinate service delivery, promote inter-professional learning, and develop staff through in-house teaching.

Qualifications

• Registration with relevant professional body (e.g. NMC, GMC, HCPC, Social Work-England).
• Recognised Practice Supervisor and/or Practice Assessor, clinical educator or equivalent.
• Trained in providing clinical supervision.
• Evidence of CPD and continuing professional development.

Main duties of the job

Candidate's should hold a current professional registration with a professional body along with a recognised clinical teaching qualification or equivalent clinical mentoring and teaching experience. With a commitment to continual quality and service improvement, you will be responsible for ensuring services provide a progressive learning and development environment for all grades of staff including temporary staff and will ensure a high standard of care delivery through specialist knowledge and skills in clinical practice, providing advice, mentoring, supervision and training across services. You will implement key practice developments and quality initiatives in order to achieve excellence in patient care in partnership with nursing and clinical multidisciplinary teams.

You will provide a Senior Practitioner perspective in discussions with senior medical and clinical colleagues, Heads of Nursing and operational managers in developing a co-ordinated approach to service delivery which is informed by good nursing practice. You will promote and contribute to inter-professional learning activities across services and implement in-house teaching.

The post holder will be responsible for their personal and professional development whilst undertaking this role.

The role requires successful candidates to work 5 days per week Mon-Fri.

• And - Trained in providing clinical supervision
• For other professions - evidence of training in clinical supervision of other staff and able to demonstrate competence in this area of practice in clinical supervision of other staff and/or students/ trainees.
• And have - Equivalent clinical experience to that of a Post Grad Diploma/master's level such as working as a band 6 (or above) in relevant clinical area with significant experience (see below under experience), together with evidence of relevant CPD
• Leadership qualification or willingness to work towards. Qualification must be achieved within agreed timescale.

• Significant evidenced based knowledge of best practice in caring for patients in the designated field.
