Join Our New Flagship Female Acute/PICU & Mental Health Rehabilitation Service:
Cygnet Kenney House is our new purpose-built, flagship acute/PICU & mental health rehabilitation service located in Oldham, which opened its doors in April.
We are actively seeking experienced, resilient, and dedicated Registered Mental Health/Learning Disability Nurses to join our founding team. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the culture, practices, and success of this brand-new facility.
Developed in collaboration with the NHS to support women from the North West to be treated closer to home. There will be three wards at Cygnet Kenney House:
- The PICU and acute environments will offer rapid access to care, supporting women to move quickly and safely to the most appropriate and least restrictive setting.
- The mental health rehabilitation and recovery ward (Level 2) will support individuals moving on from the acute ward, as well as external referrals from other services such as secure units, CAMHS, prison services, and more.
Your Day-to-Day
- Produce outstanding written reports based on your nursing assessments and observations.
- Work closely with the management team to contribute to the ongoing development of the service. Participate in audits and quality improvement initiatives.
- Attend all training and engage in CPD to further knowledge and promote nursing excellence.
- Ensure that individual care plans are complete and maintained collaboratively with residents, relatives, and other healthcare professionals, in accordance with NMC guidelines.
- Administer prescribed medicines following healthcare procedures and guidelines.

The Successful Candidate:
- Current and valid registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a Registered Mental Health/Learning Disability Nurse.
- Ideally previous experience in acute/PICU settings, though not essential; a willingness to learn and adapt is crucial.
- Openness and flexibility to thrive in a challenging yet rewarding environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrating empathy and compassion towards patients and their families.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team, with patients and their support networks.
- Preparedness to undertake the physical care needs of patients, demonstrating a hands-on approach to nursing care.
- Advocate for patient rights and well-being, with a commitment to providing patient-centred care and ensuring their voices are at the forefront of treatment.
