Job summary

The Lighthouse in Gloucestershire is seeking an experienced Registered Manager to lead a 5-bed residential home for young females (13-18) with mental health needs. This full-time, site-based role offers 37.5 hours per week and a salary of £50,000, with the opportunity to shape culture, care plans, and outcomes.

Candidates should have a Level 5 qualification in Residential Childcare or Health & Social Care, plus relevant residential childcare experience.

Qualifications

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or Level 5 Diploma in Health & Social Care) with residential childcare experience.
  • Experience as a Manager or Deputy Manager within a children's residential care setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of Ofsted inspection frameworks and children's safeguarding legislation.
  • Values-driven, trauma-informed and therapeutic care leadership principles.

Responsibilities

  • Operational Leadership: Oversee day-to-day operations and ensure compliance with Ofsted and regulatory requirements.
  • Quality & Safeguarding: Maintain high-quality care plans, risk assessments and safeguarding practices.
  • Ofsted Readiness: Lead the home through inspections to achieve Good or Outstanding ratings.
  • Team Development: Recruit, supervise and develop a high-performing care team.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong partnerships with local authorities and social workers.

The Lighthouse, Gloucestershire Full-time | 37.5 hours per week | Site based Salary is £50,000

We're looking for an experienced Registered Manager to lead The Lighthouse, a specialist 5-bed residential home in Stroud supporting young females aged 13-18 experiencing mental health difficulties. This is an opportunity to lead a small, dedicated service where your leadership can make a genuine and lasting difference. You'll have real visibility and influence over the home's culture, your team's development and, most importantly, the outcomes and experiences of the young people we support. We're looking for an experienced manager or an established Deputy Manager ready to take the next step, with a Level 5 qualification in Residential Childcare, Health & Social Care, or an equivalent qualification, alongside relevant residential childcare experience.

What you'll be doing

Operational Leadership: Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring full compliance with Ofsted regulations and the Childrens Homes Regulations 2015.

Quality & Safeguarding: Maintain high-quality care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour support strategies while embedding robust safeguarding practices.

Ofsted Readiness: Lead the home through regulatory inspections with a drive to achieve and sustain Good or Outstanding ratings.

Team Development: Recruit, inspire, and retain a high-performing care team through active supervision, development, and strong leadership.

Stakeholder Engagement: Build effective working partnerships with local authorities, social workers, and external multidisciplinary teams.

What you’ll bring to the role

Qualifications: Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or currently working towards it). or L5 Diploma in Health & Social Care or equivalent with Residential Childcare experience.

Experience: Proven track record at Management or strong experience at Deputy Manager level within a childrens residential care setting.

Regulatory Expertise: In-depth knowledge of Ofsted inspection frameworks and children's safeguarding legislation.

Approach: A values-driven, resilient leader with a deep commitment to trauma-informed and therapeutic care principles.
