Job summary

Orchard Healthcare Group is seeking a Registered Manager for the Penwortham area to lead a portfolio of care homes, setting the tone and delivering high standards of care.

You will ensure governance, occupancy and financial performance while building a capable team and strong resident/family relations. The role requires leadership at Level 5 Diploma and a track record with CQC Good/Outstanding outcomes.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Home/Registered Manager in a care setting.
• Strong knowledge of CQC requirements and outcomes (Good/Outstanding).
• Track record of improving care quality, occupancy and culture.

• Create a clear direction for the home and translate it into practical priorities for every team.
• Maintain clinical and care governance with audits, safeguarding and complaints oversight.
• Build a positive culture, support staff, and address poor practice promptly.
• Recruit, retain and develop a capable team with safe staffing levels.
• Know residents and families, listen and respond to concerns openly.
• Manage the home’s budget, staffing and resources while improving occupancy and local relationships.
• Collaborate with CQC, commissioners, health professionals and community partners.
• Be present, organised and decisive under pressure.

Location: Penwortham Grange and Lodge, Martin Field Road, Penwortham, Preston PR1 9HL

Salary: Up to £75,000 per annum plus performance-based bonus

Brief Description

Lead a diverse portfolio of care homes, develop exceptional leaders and make a visible difference to the quality of care for hundreds of residents.

Penwortham Grange and Lodge provides residential, dementia, nursing and short-term respite care in a modern, purpose-built setting. The home is rated Good by CQC. We are looking for an experienced Home Manager who can protect what works well, raise ambition and lead a team that delivers safe, personal and consistent care every day.

This is not simply a role that keeps the home running. You will set the tone, be visible to residents, families and colleagues, and take full ownership of quality, people, occupancy and financial performance.

What You Will Be Accountable For

• Create a clear direction for the home and translate it into practical priorities for every team.
• Maintain strong clinical and care governance, with effective oversight of audits, incidents, safeguarding, complaints and improvement actions.
• Build a positive, accountable culture where colleagues feel supported, standards are understood and poor practice is addressed promptly.
• Recruit, retain and develop a capable team, with safe staffing and reduced reliance on agency colleagues.
• Know residents and families, listen well and respond openly when concerns are raised.
• Manage the home’s budget, staffing and resources responsibly while improving occupancy and strengthening local relationships.
• Work effectively with CQC, commissioners, health professionals and community partners.
• Be present, organised and decisive, particularly when the home faces pressure or change.

What Strong Applicants Will Bring

• Successful experience as a Home Manager within a care home.
• Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care, or an equivalent qualification.
• A strong understanding of CQC requirements and evidence of achieving or sustaining Good or Outstanding outcomes.
• A track record of improving care, culture, occupancy or commercial performance, with clear examples of the results achieved.
• The ability to lead nursing, care and support functions as one team.
• Confident communication, sound judgement and a genuine commitment to person-centred care.
