Job summary

CareTech is seeking a Registered Manager for our Westwell Leacon service, providing person-centred care to adults with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs. You will oversee operations, quality, regulatory compliance and commercial performance, ensuring a safe, high-quality service with full occupancy.

You will lead multi-disciplinary teams, drive improvements, and engage with local authorities to grow the service while maintaining financial stability and staff development.

Qualifications

• Must have strong leadership and people management skills.
• Solid understanding of CQC standards and regulatory frameworks.
• Proven ability in financial and operational management.
• Experience leading residential care settings and driving service performance.

Responsibilities

• Ensure full occupancy and manage referrals and assessments.
• Lead recruitment and resource planning to minimise agency use.
• Develop and maintain relationships with local authorities and external partners.
• Achieve gross margin and EBITDA targets, monitor variances and report to finance within 2 days.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, CQC regulations and contracts.
• Provide visible leadership, manage team performance and conduct supervisions.

Job description

We are recruiting for a Registered Manager to join our service in Westwell Leacon, providing care and support to adults with learning disabilities, autism, and complex needs.

As the Registered Manager, you will have full operational and regulatory responsibility for the service. You will lead high-performing teams, drive quality and compliance, and ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and person-centred care at all times.

You will play a key role in developing positive service cultures, maintaining high standards, and ensuring excellent outcomes for the people we support.

About the Service - Cosy Lodge

Cosy Lodge is a care home which provides care and support for up to 7 people with learning disabilities or autistic spectrum disorder with additional physical disability needs., Reporting to the Locality Manager, the Registered Manager will provide operational, commercial, and quality leadership at Yewdale Farm. You'll play a key role in service delivery, regulatory compliance, people management, and business development.

You will ensure our service users receive high-quality, personalised care and support while maintaining the home's full occupancy, financial stability, and staff performance.

Key Responsibilities

Service Operations

• Ensure full occupancy and manage referral assessments.
• Lead on recruitment and resource management to minimise agency use.
• Tailor all services to meet the unique needs of each individual.

Commercial & Business Development

• Build and maintain strong relationships with local authorities and external partners.
• Collaborate with the Business Development team to grow the service organically.

Financial Management

• Lead on achieving gross margin and EBITDA targets.
• Monitor financial performance, identifying and addressing variances proactively.
• Communicate service changes to finance within 2 days.

Quality & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with internal policies, CQC regulations, and contractual obligations.
• Embed person-centred care pathways across the service.
• Respond to complaints effectively and uphold excellent customer service standards.

Leadership & People Management

• Provide strong, visible leadership to the team.
• Manage performance, encourage development, and address underperformance as needed.
• Conduct supervisions, disciplinary and appeal hearings appropriately.

Continuous Improvement

• Promote a culture of learning, quality improvement and service efficiency.
• Stay informed on sector developments and legislative changes.

• NVQ Level 5 in Leadership for Health and Social Care (or equivalent).
• Previous experience managing a residential care setting, ideally supporting individuals with learning disabilities.
• Strong understanding of CQC standards and regulatory frameworks.
• Proven leadership, financial and operational management skills.
