Job description

Base pay range

Location: YMCA Goole

Department: Children's Residential Care

Job Type: Full time

Contract Type: Permanent

We are looking for an experienced Registered Manager to lead one of our 4‑bedroom children’s home in Goole to provide leadership to our wonderful team and create a loving, nurturing home for children.

As a not‑for‑profit operator in this sector, we truly put the needs of our children ahead of profits and enhance the children's care by the provision of our in‑house clinical team providing extensive psychologically‑informed care as well as accessing the wider services of the YMCA including our Community & Activity Village where the children use all of our facilities.

We are looking for someone whose natural enthusiasm and dedication to care for children in care will shine through as they share our desire to create a nurturing, safe and highly supportive home for the children. If this sounds like you, please read on!

The Role

As a Registered Manager, your role will include a wide variety of tasks and you will thrive from a variety and challenge a role of this nature will bring.

  • Hold and maintain the Ofsted registration and manage the home in an outstanding way.
  • Ensure that the home is managed in a way which complies with the Children’s Homes Regulations (England) 2015 and creates a positive physical and emotional environment where children and young people can discover who they are and who they can become.
  • Create, audit and maintain clear and accurate Care Plans and Risk Assessments for each individual child within your care and any other associated documentation within the home.
  • Work in conjunction with the Clinical team to ensure Clinical Safety Plans are maintained and adhered to at all times.
  • Provide children with a high standard of personalised care; ensuring that children are included as fully as possible in decisions affecting their care.
  • Lead the staff team to create a culture of warmth, nurture and care within the home environment.
  • Act with compassion and understanding, motivating and rewarding your team when appropriate.
  • Schedule the required staffing levels to ensure you have the optimum staff team on shift with a complementary mix of skills and expertise.
  • Be responsible for the support of safeguarding all children in our Children’s Residential Services.
  • Investigate any safeguarding concerns for the service area and make informed, fair, and transparent decisions based on information obtained, including the production of investigation reports with recommendations and outcomes.
  • Support the children and young people through times of crisis and dysregulation, ensuring the safety of the child or young person is of paramount importance at all times.
  • Work with the Operations Team to support the continual development of our service.

We know your number 1 priority will be the children in your care and the team who show up every day – that’s why we ensure you have the support of our in‑house IT, HR, Recruitment, Marketing and Safeguarding departments to support you in every way. We want to ensure you can receive all the support you need to thrive – this can only mean positive outcomes for the children too.

You will have full autonomy and support from our Executive and Senior Leadership team in order to make the decisions you need to make to run an outstanding home.

About You

As a passionate expert in children’s residential care, you will bring with you a wealth of experience in caring for children and young people who have had the most difficult starts in life. Experience dealing with trauma, challenging behaviour and working in a psychologically informed way would all be highly beneficial to your smooth transition into our role.

We are looking for someone highly resilient and confident to support the children and young people through times of crisis and dysregulation, ensuring the safety of the child or young person is of paramount importance at all times. Specific experience with CSE and HSB would be highly advantageous.

For this particular role, we would look for someone who has held a Registered Manager position previously as we are looking for someone who can hit the ground running.

You will need to hold a minimum of a Level 4 Diploma in Children’s Residential Care and either already hold your Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management or be willing to undertake this with our support.

You will need your own car and driving licence. You will be able to reclaim your mileage through our expenses policy. You will primarily be based within the specific home but there will be times to travel to our Head Offices in Nottingham and Newark as well as to our other homes providing support when needed.

If you are ready for a new challenge where you can make a positive impact and lasting impression on both the people within your staff team and the children and young people and care, we would love to hear from you.
