Job summary

Jupiter Recruitment is assisting a brand-new children’s residential service in central Birmingham to recruit a Registered Children’s Home Manager. This therapy-based home requires an experienced leader to drive pre-registration to full commissioning and beyond.

You will lead day-to-day care, ensure QA across Ofsted standards, manage inspections, and maintain SCR compliance. The role requires safeguarding expertise and a Level 5 Diploma, with a 37.5-hour week and a salary of £60,000–£65,000 plus

Qualifications

• Experience as registered manager in children's residential care.
• 2+ years in a supervisory/management role within children's care services.
• Experience opening or re-registering a new home.
• Ofsted track record in children's homes.
• Experience in homes rated Good or Outstanding at last inspection.
• Knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Ofsted Quality Standards.
• Level 5 Diploma (or enrolling with completion within 12 months).

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day care, supervision, and QA across Ofsted Quality Standards.
• Prepare for and lead interim and full inspections; drive continuous improvement.
• Demonstrate lived knowledge of policies, staffing model, and quality standards.
• Address Ofsted conditions or minor works promptly.
• Maintain the SCR for all staff and key persons.
• Deliver induction and training: safeguarding, trauma-informed care, behaviour support, first aid.
• Oversee premises fit-out, fire safety, and room-by-room compliance.
• Procure furniture, equipment, medication storage, and Ofsted-ready IT/records systems.
