Job description

Extraordinary Care. Extraordinary Culture. Extraordinary Careers.

Earn up to £47,800 in year one | Up to £42,000 base salary + £4,800 bonus potential + £1,000 guaranteed in year one

Helping Hands was built on kindness and it still guides everything we do today. We’re a purpose-driven team helping people live well in the homes and communities they love. Join us, and you’ll be part of a supportive, ambitious team where your work truly matters, and you can grow a career that counts.

As a Registered Care Manager, you’ll lead the delivery of exceptional care within your local community. You’ll guide and inspire your team, uphold the highest quality standards, and make sure every customer receives safe, personalised support they can rely on. It’s a role with real influence, shaping services, strengthening relationships, and helping your branch grow with heart and confidence.

Our Hereford branch is one of our newer Helping Hands locations. The doors are open and the foundations are in place, but the branch is still very much in its growth phase – making this a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to genuinely build and shape a service.

We’re looking for a manager with a new business mindset who is excited by the opportunity to grow a branch rather than simply inherit an established operation. You’ll be visible within the Hereford community, building relationships with local authorities, healthcare professionals, community groups and other referral partners to raise awareness of Helping Hands and develop a strong pipeline of new customers.

At the same time, you’ll recruit, develop and grow your care team alongside the customer base, creating the culture and capability the branch needs as it scales. You’ll have the backing of an established national organisation and our central support functions, but plenty of opportunity to put your own stamp on the branch and its future.

We’re happy to consider experienced managers from both domiciliary care and other care settings. What’s most important is that you’re a strong, hands-on leader who understands quality care and is comfortable with the commercial and community-facing side of growing a service. You’ll need the confidence to get out into the local area, create opportunities, build relationships and turn those relationships into sustainable growth.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the Hereford branch with warmth, energy and clarity, creating a high-performing, values-driven team where everyone feels supported and able to thrive.
  • Drive the growth of a newer branch, building both the customer base and care team as the service develops.
  • Take an active role in recruiting, developing and retaining carers, ensuring the branch has the capacity to support continued growth.
  • Ensure every customer receives outstanding care, from regular visits to respite and Live-in services – championing quality, safety and consistency.
  • Maintain full regulatory compliance across your services, driving a “right first time” culture and responding swiftly to improvements when needed.
  • Be highly visible within the Hereford community, developing relationships with healthcare professionals, local authorities, GPs, community organisations and other potential referral partners.
  • Identify and create new business opportunities, building Helping Hands’ presence and reputation across the local area.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams across Operations, People, Recruitment, Quality, Finance and Marketing to support the branch’s growth.
  • Monitor performance, manage budgets and KPIs, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, profitability and service delivery.
  • Support your Area Care Manager and fellow leaders by sharing best practice and helping embed a culture of excellence across your region.

What you’ll bring

  • A real passion for people, care and community.
  • Experience leading teams, inspiring others, building capability and driving strong performance.
  • A commercial and growth-focused mindset, with the confidence to identify opportunities and turn them into results.
  • Strong networking and relationship-building skills, and the confidence to represent Helping Hands within the local community.
  • The drive and resilience to build and grow a developing service, rather than simply maintain an established one.
  • Experience recruiting, developing and retaining strong teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence both internal and external partners.
  • Strong commercial awareness, with experience managing budgets, KPIs and business performance.
  • A solid understanding of regulatory requirements, quality frameworks and compliance best practice.
  • Outstanding organisational and planning skills, with the resilience to thrive in a fast-moving environment.
  • Confidence using data, systems and technology to inform good decision-making.
  • A flexible, adaptable mindset and a drive to deliver meaningful results.
  • Experience in the care sector or a related field.
  • Level 5 qualification in Leadership and Management for Care (or willingness to work towards it).
  • Knowledge of CQC regulatory standards.
  • Previous management experience within care.
  • Experience growing a service, developing new business or building relationships within a local community.

Why Helping Hands

  • Clear career development pathways and genuine opportunities to grow.
  • 25 days’ annual leave (rising to 27 with service).
  • Performance related bonus worth up to £10,000 per annum.
  • Blue Light Card discounts.
  • Employee assistance programme.
  • Support with nationally recognised qualifications.
  • A workplace that celebrates diversity and champions inclusion. Everyone is welcome.

At Helping Hands we’re committed to building a diverse, inclusive community where everyone belongs. All applications are considered fairly in line with our Equality and Diversity Policy.
